Reccy shots for my HDR poster. ‘Room with a view’ assignment. Taken at the abandoned house in Loftus
And a flash for my camera. It’s about time, I’ve only been studying photography for 10 months
New shoes this week. I’ll stop now. It’s Christmas, I should be shopping for others.
Trapping Lightning
The above image is of a Lichtenberg Figure which is both a real life example of a branching fractal and also the result of electrical discharge (double awesome). These “lightning trees” are created by the movement of electricity through an insulator such as plexiglass. As the electricity discharges it alters the structure of the insulator which causes its path to be clearly outlined and preserved within the material. This of course is a great way of analyzing the shapes of plasma filaments and was an important step in plasma science.
Lichtenberg figures can also often be found burnt across the skin of lightning strike victims or people who were in the vicinity of a lightning strike. Which as uncomfortable as it sounds seems pretty awesome to me.

“What I love about festivals is: that fact that all the women are bright orange. They’re all wearing the same clothes. And all the men look like square bricks. And they’re all in singlets, or no singlets. And they’re all really angry because they’ve just dumped all their pills and they wanna fight each other. And the next thing you know, there’s a big pile of orange people and square bricks on top of each other having sex at a festival and that’s my favourite thing! I love it!”

When this played, everyone knew when to shut up. -

Our whole class asked for an extension for this assignment. I feel bad for asking for an extension then doing it all the night before
